The Head, Heart, & Hands: June 19th, 2022
Hey Central Hope! Welcome to our weekly worship blog, where we will lay out the songs for the upcoming Sunday and offer a way to worship our God with our mind, soul, and strength.
At Central, we believe our daily worship of God should engage the head, heart, and hand. We say this because God has commanded us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. So each week, we will highlight an upcoming song and reflect on how it engages our Head, Heart, and Hand. Our aim is to help prepare you to participate in the worship of our great God! We hope you can enjoy these songs throughout your week on your commute to work, in the line at school, or at home!
This week we will be singing (check out our Spotify playlist):
- God is For Us – NEW SONG!
- What a Friend We Have in Jesus
- Before the Throne of God Above
- He Will Hold Me Fast
- Be Thou My Vision
This week, we will reflect on Be Thou My Vision, written by Mary Byrne and Eleanor Hull in 1905.
“Thou in me dwelling and I in thee one”
Worship God with your head and reflect on the Spirit of God dwelling in you with 1 Corinthians 3:16, “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”
“I ever with thee and thou with me Lord”
Worship God with your heart abide in Jesus with John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
“Thou and thou only, first in my heart”
Worship God with your hands and seek God first along with Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” –
Jude 1:24-25
